International Women’s Day
Press for Progress
Thursday March 8 is International Women’s Day and to us here at Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel that means celebrating the strong and powerful women which not only work with us here at the venue but also all the women throughout the world pressing for progress in gender equality in their own individual ways.
This day brings together people from all walks of life, governments, women’s organisations, businesses and charities who rally together for one common cause, women’s rights and how they, in 2018 and beyond will focus on closing the gender gap.
This year, we’re highlighting our Women of Watsons, focusing on women’s achievements, celebrating their journey and thanking them for being a role model for the rest of the team and community.
So without further a due, we introduce you to the Women of Watsons; Jade Money, Giannina Abiva and Briony Longhurst.
These three ladies work across the venue in different departments, Jade is our Assistant Operations Manager, Giannina (or G) is our Pastry Chef and Briony is our Senior Events Manager. Although they work in different areas, they sight ‘that view!’ as one of the work perks of Watsons that keeps them coming back to the Bay. G says that everyone coming from different backgrounds and genders are treated equally in the kitchen but would “love to see more women in senior chef positions.”
Jade went on to say she is one of the few females in the operations team for Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel and wants to make the following pledge:
“My pledge is to continue to be an empowering and vibrant role model to other females.”
Briony heads up an all female reservation, events and weddings team and was named the ‘Fairy Godmother’ of Watsons Bay for being the ultimate girl boss leading and empowering a new generation of female leaders.
Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel is part of The Sydney Collective, with one of Sydney’s only executive teams with gender parity. With strong and intelligent females heading up the marketing and human relations departments, The Sydney Collective encourages women to strive to be the best they can be and removes barriers that may impede on their success.
To celebrate all of those achievements, we are offering a glass of bubbles to all ladies who visit Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel on International Women’s Day between 5-7pm! Bring your mum, sister, partner, best friend, colleague or any other female who you want to have a post work celebration drink with. RSVP via our Facebook page!
