The Best Autumn Walks in Watsons Bay
Our three favourite walks as the weather cools down.
It’s that time of the year again! That summer feeling is slowly giving way to summer nostalgia…but put your tissues away and head to Watsons Bay! With our location only a 15 minute ferry from the CBD, Watsons Bay is the perfect location to escape for the weekend.
Do you remember when it was 38° and even resting on the grass was a perspiring exercise? Good news; now that the heat of the Sydney summer has eased you can finally put on your new trainers and tick the most beautiful walks in the Eastern suburbs off your bucket list.
Watsons Bay Walk 4.5km/2 hours
While this track is relatively easy, you will get the chance to capture amazing views of the harbour and Pacific Ocean so make sure to pack your camera!
Watsons Bay walk highlights iconic national parks such as Camp Cove, Lady Bay Beach, South Head Heritage trail and the picturesque Hornby Lighthouse. See more about exploring the bay here.
Make sure you pick up a healthy juice from the Beach Club kiosk to boost up your energy.
Rose Bay Walk 8km/3-4 hours
Not as crowded as Bondi to Bronte, this walk is one of our absolute favourites in Sydney! You will be able to appreciate the beauty and serenity of secluded beaches including Queens Beach, Kutti Beach, and Milk Beach. Have a quick rest half-way in Nielson Park to soak in the magnificent views of the Sydney Harbour.
When you finally arrive in Watsons Bay after your last hidden gem Gibsons Beach, treat yourself with drinks and a well-deserved lunch from Beach Club!
Now relax and reflect on how good life is…
The Gap and Federation Cliff Walk 5km/1.5 hours
About 200m away from Watsons Bay Boutique Hotel, the Gap trail offers breathtaking views of the Sydney city skyline on one side and waves crashing on the other. It’s a fantastic spot to watch sunrise or sunset.
Continue your journey through Gap Park onto Federation Cliff Walk where you will be amazed with endless views of the ocean and the majestic Macquarie Lighthouse.
Once in Dover Heights you can keep walking to Bondi Beach, or just jump on the bus if you are restricted with time. Alternatively, stroll back down to Watsons Bay, grab a good book and relax in Robertson Park. (We would also personally suggest a peanut butter ice-cream from our Kiosk, but that’s only because we are very naughty!)
